Kaori Project
      

The Kaori (pictured above in Annapolis) is a 126' oceangoing sailing yacht.  The control job consisted of the design / build of a system capable of remote operation of all sailing functions in addition to the standard bridge sailing controls.  We designed and fabricated a 64 channel radio control system capable of operating the ship's sailing functions from a wireless radio transmitter.  The captain could sail the ship from anywhere on the boat.  The system has been in continuous operation since 1991 and may very well have been the first radio controlled boat of its size ever produced.

 Acorn Mini Storage Project
 

The control job consisted of the design / build of a system of telemetry capable of remotely opening and closing the security gate, providing remote surveillance and controlled access security capability from 40 miles away.  The Mini Storage management  software expected direct connected on site installation.  The challenge was to do it economically to a remote location.  We designed an interface between the on site 485 link and  controller with the main office.  Standard telephone service provided the ability to function economically.  The system allowed 24 hour remote surveillance via closed circuit  cameras feeding to computer monitors, remote activation of gate functions, and the ability to have emergency gate control functions forwarded to and handled by cell phone connection.  Thus, new customers could communicate with the office, sign up for service, pay a deposit, and be allowed access without any on site staff.  A central office can now oversee multiple storage units located anywhere.
